What Makes It Special
📜 A Storied Past
Originally a classic “center hallway” farmhouse, the property expanded in the late 1800s with unique features like an octagon wing and a country-style kitchen. In the 1930s, it became a bustling inn known as Bybrook Lodge, drawing travelers eager to explore the newly developed Cranmore Mountain Resort.
⚾ A Babe Ruth Connection
In 1940, Richard Flanders—whose wife Julia was Babe Ruth’s daughter—renamed the property Cranmore Mountain Lodge. The Babe himself was a frequent guest, often staying in what is now Room 2, which still preserves elements of its original furnishings.
🛎️ A Cozy Retreat with Modern Comforts
While much has been lovingly preserved, the lodge has kept up with the times. You’ll find modern bathrooms, fire safety upgrades, and plenty of thoughtful touches—all while enjoying that nostalgic mountain-lodge atmosphere.
🌿 Family-Friendly Amenities
Over the decades, the lodge has welcomed guests of all ages with additions like a swimming pool, tennis courts, horseback riding (in earlier years), and spacious grounds for seasonal recreation.
