The Reclaimed Motel was built in 1960, and we wanted to respect its mid-century bones while making thoughtful modern upgrades.
And the list of upgrades was long! From a new roof, to all new plumbing and electric, we’ve kept the integrity of this Red Hook landmark while investing in meaningful improvements to make this motel appealing and memorable for the modern traveler.
Every room has been individually curated with vintage and second-hand items. Bathroom tiles, sconces, doors, chairs, records — we believe that everything can have a chance at a second life.
From the decks to the adjoining party rooms, this motel is intended for making memories with fellow travelers. You’re welcome to bring your pup, too!
About The Owners: Kendra & Jared
Kendra and Jared met in Montreal, during college, and have been together ever since they shared that first poutine. Back in 2012, they started collecting power tools to remodel a condo in Austin, TX, and have renovated two more homes while living in California and then New York.
During the pandemic, they took on an old fishing cabin in Red Hook, just a couple of miles away from where Jared grew up. On a lark, they visited the motel that Jared passed on his way to school every day. It was for sale, and maybe it was pandemic cabin fever or fresh appetite for a bit risk, but they decided to stretch themselves to make the motel a groovy reality.
Their goal was to bring a vision of compassionate hospitality to the Hudson Valley, with plenty of space and atmosphere for celebrations with friends and family. This means a property full of products with history, easy access to sustainable solutions, and fun and spontaneous moments around communal spaces.
